Which Deepcool case do you actually need?

Most PC builders get stuck choosing between airflow, looks and size, when the real question is what heat your parts will produce and how much room they need. Deepcool's range splits into three useful tiers. Entry cases like the CC560 and the older Matrexx line use thinner steel, plastic-heavy fronts and a few basic fans. They work fine for a mid-range CPU and a 150 to 250 W graphics card, but the fan bearings are usually sleeve or hydraulic types that get noisier as they age, and the dust filtering is basic.

The sweet spot is the CH510 and CH560 mesh-front family, plus compact options like the CH360 for micro-ATX and mini-ITX. Here you get a properly open front panel, better static pressure through the mesh, tempered glass panels and often a hub or ARGB controller. Cooling performance rises sharply compared with entry cases because intake air reaches the GPU and CPU without fighting a solid panel.

Enthusiast cases such as the Morpheus, CL500, CG580 and the Quadstellar dual-system design bring thicker panels, bigger radiator support, better cable routing space and unusual layouts. Diminishing returns hit quickly. A mesh-front mid-tower with three good fans will cool most builds within a few degrees of a flagship chassis. You pay extra for radiator capacity, build quality and aesthetics, so only go there if you need them.

Upgrading and technical nuances

A case is the longest-lived part of a build, so plan for the next two or three upgrades, not just today's parts. Current graphics cards are physically huge, and many high-end models run well past 330 mm and three slots thick. Check the maximum GPU length in Deepcool's spec sheet, then measure with the front fans or radiator fitted, because those can eat 30 to 50 mm. If you're shopping for Graphics Cards / GPU, look at card thickness as well as length, since fat triple-slot coolers can collide with bottom-mounted PSU shrouds or vertical mounts.

Motherboard format matters. Standard ATX boards from the ASUS TUF, MSI Tomahawk or Gigabyte AORUS lines fit the mid-tower cases, but the CH360 and similar compact cases are limited to micro-ATX or mini-ITX. Browse Motherboards for the right size and check that the socket suits your chip, whether that's AM5 or LGA1851. Case choice doesn't care about socket, but cooler mounting does.

Back-connect motherboards, where the power and USB headers sit on the rear edge, need cases with a deep rear cable channel and a layout that supports them. Many newer Deepcool designs do, but older budget cases can be tight. Some Deepcool cases also include a small LCD or digital display, like the CH170 Digital. These need a free USB header and a software-controlled setup, so check your board has the spare header.

For cooling, the 120 mm fan has more or less settled as the standard. Fluid dynamic and similar bearings last longer and stay quieter than sleeve bearings, and higher static pressure helps through mesh panels and radiators. For air, something like a Thermalright Peerless Assassin is a safe pairing for CPU Cooling, while a 280 or 360 mm Arctic Liquid Freezer suits cases with proper top or front radiator support. Browse Fans, Heatsinks & Cooling to add extra intake or exhaust.

Practical things to check before buying

Start with clearances. Cooler height limits on mid-towers are often around 165 to 175 mm, which suits most tower coolers, but compact cases drop to 150 mm or lower. Tall Desktop Memory with oversized heat spreaders can clash with big air coolers, so check Desktop Memory heights if you're running a dual-tower heatsink. Low-profile DDR5 kits such as Corsair Vengeance or Kingston Fury Beast are usually safe.

Next, the power supply. Many compact cases need SFX or SFX-L units, while ATX mid-towers take standard units. A modern ATX 3.1 unit with a native 12V-2x6 connector, like a Corsair RMx or Seasonic Focus, avoids adapter bulk. That matters because the connector shouldn't be bent sharply near the plug, so you need room between the GPU plug and the side glass. Look through Power Supplies or the ATX Power Supply range, and pay attention to PSU length in tight cases. If you need extensions or sleeved cables, check Cables & Connectors.

Storage is simple. M.2 NVMe drives like the Samsung 990 series, Crucial T500 or WD_BLACK models mount on the board, though some PCIe 5.0 drives run hot and want a heatsink with airflow. Our Solid State Drives (SSD) range covers both. Few modern Deepcool cases offer many 3.5 inch bays, so check if you need bulk hard drives.

Finally, think about thermals. Fully glass-fronted designs look great but can choke a hot GPU. If you're running a powerful CPUs & Processors and graphics card combo, mesh fronts are the safer choice. Also check front I/O: USB-C and USB 3.0 headers need matching motherboard connectors.

Brands and local warranty

Deepcool is a well-established name in cases and cooling, and sits between budget and premium brands on price. Other solid options in Computer Cases include Lian Li, Fractal Design, NZXT, Corsair, Antec and Cooler Master, and each has its own strengths. Lian Li and Fractal lean premium on build quality, while Deepcool often wins on value and airflow per dollar.

Warranty is worth caring about even for a metal box. Fans, hubs, LCD panels and glass can fail or arrive damaged, and local warranty means you deal with an Australian distributor rather than posting parts overseas. Buying through an authorised local retailer keeps your rights under Australian Consumer Law straightforward, and you'll want to keep your invoice. If you'd rather skip the hassle of building, our prebuilt Computers range is another route, and Monitors and Networking gear, including TP-Link hardware, can finish off the setup.

Frequently asked questions

Is a mesh-front Deepcool case always cooler than a glass-front one?

Usually, yes. Mesh lets intake fans pull air freely, while glass fronts rely on narrow side gaps that restrict flow. Glass-front cases can be fine for modest parts, but hot CPUs and GPUs run cooler with mesh.

Will my large graphics card fit?

Check the case's maximum GPU length and subtract any front radiator or fan thickness. Also check slot thickness and the clearance between the card and the side panel for your power cable.

Do Deepcool cases come with enough fans?

Most mid-range models include at least one or two, and some include three. For a high-end build, adding a third intake or a better exhaust fan often drops temperatures more than expected.

Can I fit a 360 mm radiator?

Many mid-towers support a 360 mm radiator at the top or front, but compact models often don't. Check both radiator length and the combined thickness with fans, particularly against memory and VRM heatsinks.

Is a more expensive case worth it?

Only if you need the extra features. Premium cases mostly add build quality, layout flexibility, radiator support and looks, while a good mesh mid-tower delivers most of the cooling performance for less.
